In the short story “The Trade Off” the Narrator is a teenage girl who values popularity and wants to go to the coolest parties. She is selfish because she never asked her best-friend how she was feeling and only cared about wanting to be with the cool kids. The Narrator is also greedy because she always wants something. For example she wanted to be popular but she never was thankful of the friends she already had, she just wanted more. She is also dishonest this is when she was willing to give up secret Melina didn’t want anyone to know about so that she could have a few seconds of popularity. Last but not least The Narrator is also cowardly because when her best friend came back, everyone was making fun of her and she didn’t stand up for
