1. What is the point of view ?
The story The Tell-Tale Heart uses the third person Limited Omniscience point of view. The narrator sees events through one character’s eyes and focuses on their feelings and thoughts.
2. How reliable is the narrator? What is his state of mind?
The narrator is not reliable and is mentally unstable. Though the narrator wanted to convince the audience that he was not mad his actions contradicted his statements. He …show more content…
In this case the narrator would have been the hero (the detectives) or the victim (the old man). Much of the story would be to prove the actual narrator is mentally unstable rather than him trying to prove he is not.
“Miss Brill”
1. Who is the narrator (it is not Miss Brill) and what is the point of view?
The story Miss Brill uses a nonparticipant narrator. We know this because the narrator does not appear in the story as a character and refers to the characters as “he,” “she,” or “they.” The point of view was limited omniscient as the reader was only allowed in the mind of Miss Brill. The writer also uses interior monologue which presents the characters thoughts as if they were speaking out loud to themselves. Miss Brill does this through much of the story asking herself questions and then answering them.
2. Why is Miss Brill’s fur boa so important to the story? How is it similar to Miss Brill herself?
The fur boa was important because in her mind it showed her status and class. It reinforces her fantasy that she is a great actor. It is similar to Miss Brill in that it is old and had been tucked
