Personal Narrative: My Experience With A Group Project

Improved Essays
People surrounded me at a table fiddling with pencils and papers as we listened to the directions. Our assigned project; to create a game that taught others a skill. Anxiety washed over me like morning waves; low and creeping. I glanced over to the people who would I work with. Little did I know I would later call this the worst encounter with a group project I’ve participated in, or that I would learn to push through and persevere. First week started and we had become a well oiled machine that plowed through the beginning of the project. All close friends that worked well together ,and anxieties about this project I once had diminished. Our eyes unmoving from the screens in front of us, as our goal seemed within reach. I came into school the next day only to find everything in shambles. Somehow the the cards I wrote became a mess filled with grammatical errors, the pieces began printing furious plastic tornadoes, and our rules lacked rules! I fell to my knees and yelled to the sky,” No!” At Least, I thought I did. Instead I stood there unmoving as my team worried if I had finally broken. I pulled myself together and started to assign tasks. Our group filled with determination to fix this project! We worked furiously to fix the problems that we suddenly faced first by grabbing our old printed projects in place of those that would not print, laminating the cards that we could, and editing our rule book in a flash. In the heat of panic and stress I heard a solemn voice, “ I did my cards, so what else do I have to do?” I froze.”Oh no!” I thought. Memories flooded back, and I remembered telling Richard to check my grammar on our cards. Simple capitalization problems, improper grammar, but no! Those cards no longer my cards, but his cards.”You completely changed them!” I fumed, and with my glare I put the sun to shame. This project, and this guy had unleashed the gates of

It was October 16, 2012. I was in seventh grade, just a boy to become someone or something. We were loading the bus with our two coaches, Coach Voss and Coach Larh. Coach Voss the offensive coach who liked to make us run, and coach larh, our Defensive coach who taught me everything I known about the defensive side of the ball. This was a big game for me and my fellow teammates this game was going to set the tone for the rest of the season to show that we can be successful.…

My experience has been interesting, positive, and at the same time rewarding. My very first experience with working in group was couple of years ago during a final year project, in my country of birth. The project was in community medicine, and involved repeated trip to a rural community by my group to access their health status, and needs. We had many challenges, but overcame them all as a group. I learnt the act of collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making by consensus building, and most importantly; comradeship.…

I listened to my group’s suggestions and ideas which was extremely valuable to me. Group A has faced many conflicts throughout the semesters and fortunately the hostility was resolved rather quickly. Each member from the group spoke up about their feelings and was soon followed by a group reflection of the expressed hostility. The group was able to bounce back and continue the therapeutic process with a little more insight. However, with the crises that occurred prior to these last two sessions, it has really taken effect on the group and the way they manage hostility. The here and now process has not been able to progress even with the help of the leader.…

I am a quick learner. Almost like a fish to water, most of the time it takes me a few short tries before I can just “get” something. However, group projects take my ease of learning away because now I have to depend on others and their expertise. My successes and theirs are now intertwined, and usually for a substantial amount of points.…

In my collaboration assignment, I faced a few challenges, but I also learned many things. When I went looking for inspiration for a subject that would inspire me, I found an article about traces of antibiotics in the environment. It interested me, and I thought that it might be a good article to use. I researched for more information, and I found another article about antibiotic resistance. It explained how bacteria in the natural environment had a resistance to antibiotics.…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

The first time senior project was ever introduced to me was actually my freshmen year. At the time of course I did not really think much about it because I just knew it was so long away and I had so many other things to do in the meantime like junior internship and a numerous amount of classes in high school, as well as the college. Honestly I did not put a whole lot of thought into it until the summer before my senior just because I knew it was a while away.…

We were to design a transit station in Houston that would mainly accommodate a high speed train connecting Houston to Dallas. When we were first introduced to the challenge, I thought there was no way it could have been done in the time frame we were given. Luckily, we were able to work in small groups for the project. I chose to be in a group with two of my friends. I had enjoyed working with them on previous projects throughout the year…

Today was the day that I had been waiting for, for the entire year. It was something that made me practice and play almost every day just preparing for this, and I knew that victory was within my reach. Quickly changing into my ironed clothes, and eating a soggy bowl of cereal, I raced out into the cold, desolate driveway, waiting for my ride as snowflakes flew around me. Breathing in the cold air nervously, I made sure to have everything on me, as to not forget a thing. Pulling the items out of my backpack, I discovered my small gadget phone, a hearty oatmeal bar, a frozen bottle of water, and a vast amount of quarters that I would use to purchase meatball Subs in between the rounds of play.…

When Ms. George addressed the class about a senior project I automatically knew that I wanted to do something different. I knew exactly who to call as my mentor, Ms. Sandra during the summer I volunteered at the All Saints Center of Concern, she is one of the lead ladies and is very familiar with many of the non-profit organizations around Calhoun County. After meeting and talking with Ms. Sandra Hall for several days we came a conclusion. I wanted to do something that would impact the people around me. For my senior project, I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of America where I taught the children different routines and dance moves.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

We have 5 members in our group of whom 2 were male, and 3 were female. After we were assigned the project, we all came together, and made a commitment to do it better, and succeed at it. Firstly, we welcomed ideas from everyone, without setting any criteria. Our project was to reinvent any product with more features that will be helpful for public. It was a very challenging project because we were to redesign a particular product, which should be more appealing to the costumers in terms of features, solution of particular problems, availability, and cost.…
