A Knight’s Tale is a movie about a young squire named William Thatcher, a young squire named William Thatcher, who enters into a journey of becoming a Knight. The call to adventure seemed very interesting to me. When William Thatcher found his knight, Sir Ector, dead with only one joust left in a jousting tournament, the call is to one of the squires to take Sir Ector’s spot in the tournament. This is a call to adventure to Will because he thinks this is a chance to “change his stars” as these three words are said in the movie numerous times. Will did not refuse this call right away. The first character, William Thatcher, would be known as the hero because he is the one who is facing all the challenges. He is also the main character who seeks to change his stars with the support of his friends. Roland, Wat, and Kate would be known as Heralds in this movie because they were all friends of William. They have supported this throughout this whole journey. Whenever he was in need of something, they would be there to find a way to help him. Jocelyn would be classified as a Persephone. She seemed like a troubling lady and William was madly in love with her, but she always kept sending him mixed signals. He made certain choices in the tournament just for her to show her how much he loved her, such as taking hits to the armor on purpose in the tournament and losing. Count Adhemar would no doubt be considered the villain or the mischief maker of the movie. He puts William in jail, so that he doesn’t have to face him in the jousting tournament, and when William gets out of jail to face Count Adhemar, Count Adhemar cheats by using a pointed tip against Will. He stabs him in the shoulder blade that he uses to lift his spear with. Lastly, Geoffrey Chaucer would be classified as the Threshold Guardian because Geoffrey helps Will become a knight by training him and by making go through some rough obstacles. He also introduces him in a fantastic sort of way at every tournament William gets
