The First Yogurt Smoothie in the World
The world that people living has done many and fast developments. It changed a lot of things such as cultures and techniques. Even though many things have been changed to give better life to people, people’s passion of living better was getting bigger. As same as people wanted to live better, they wanted to eat better too. So many foods and beverage were invited and improved. One of the beverages that have been invited is a smoothie. A smoothie is a thick beverage of fruit pureed in a blender with ice, milk, yogurt, and other liquid (smoothie, n.d.). And there is the world first yogurt smoothie, which is called Lassi.

Commonly, Lassi can be divided by two types, sweet and salted. Salted Lassi is a traditional drink and made of a mixture of milk or water, yogurt and various spices. It is considered as a savory drink. Sometimes ground and roasted cumin or cardamoms were added to enhance a flavor. Also other spices can be added such as mint. Sweet Lassi is made by blending together milk or water, yogurt and sugar. Sometimes fruits, such as mango, strawberry, and papaya, are also used to add extra flavor. In addition, there is another type of Lassi called chaas. Chaas is a Lassi made of buttermilk. Buttermilk is a different variant of yogurt. It is formed after removing butterfat and has a thinner consistency that Lassi that made of yogurt-based. Lassi is made of dairy, so it has plenty of protein and calcium. When you drink Lassi, the nutrition in it will help to gain strength in muscles and assistive building strong bones and teeth. And it’s good as a summer drink because it can reduce summer-related problems such as heat, gastro-intestinal problems, and build-up of bacteria. It also helps to do a proper digestive system and lower a cholesterol levels and blood pressures in the body (Rewar, n.d.). Additionally, Lassi can be used as a medicinal effect.
