Growing up in Stockton, California I had to deal with violence and poverty. I grew up in a neighborhood that was full of Gangs and that was a constant reminder that being on the streets was a dangerous place to be. I grew up with a single parent and I had four siblings. Times were very difficult for us. We hated to see certain holidays because we knew mom couldn’t afford to get us the things we wanted. At the age of 11 I went to live with my Grandfather, who taught me the importance of staying in school and following your dreams and goals. It was then I found and formed the love for sports. It was the best thing I could ever got in to keep me from the negative things going on all around me. I played Football and Basketball and through hard work and dedication I became one of the best players in the area and was recognized as the player of the year back to back years. I earned a sports scholarship to attend the best private schools in the city. I went on to graduate high school. It was then as a young man that I decided to follow my dream. My grandfather (John H. Lewis) was a Former Ex Basketball coach who always had the ability to attract the best talent in the area. Some of his former players had Basketball jobs at various University’s across the country. We decided to take a trip to these colleges and give it our best shot. I wanted to follow my dream and attend college and play Division 1 Basketball.
