“Situations create circumstances, circumstances lead to incarnation. Where several fail and fear to tread, that is the path adopted by leaders.”
Leadership is an extremely diverse topic and is interpreted by individuals in various ways. There can be an endless discussion with regard to how leaders are made. Some are of the belief that leaders are born, while Alexandre Harvard , writer and founder of “Virtuous Leadership – An Agenda for Personal Excellence”(New York, 2007) is of the opinion that leaders are trained. He argues this by associating leadership with virtue and concludes that virtue is a habit that comes out of practice. Either approach cannot be challenged.
I strongly believe that upbringing plays a vital role for an individual to have leadership qualities. Parents must give kids the opportunity to make their own decisions and support them even if they are wrong. The best learning comes out of trying all possibilities on your own. One must keep others experiences in mind and then do what your instincts tell you to do. Life may never paint a perfect picture in one go, but experience comes from doing, not listening. Leadership is a trait that is demanded in almost all corporate work profiles and similarly can be seen on all resumes. The question is how far an individual is willing to go and how much authority a company is willing to grant. Almost all companies have workshops and training programs on leadership. Point is how well they are perceived. For instructors it might be a course they have to teach and get over with, while for employees it could just be another day at work.
