Holling Hoodhood is the protagonist in the novel The Wednesday Wars by Gary schmidt. Holling played the part of Ariel the fairy in a play, he had yellow tights and feathers on the butt. A photographer took an embarrassing picture of Holling at the play for the local paper. Doug Switick’s brother being the nice friend that he is gathered up all the newspapers in town, brought them home and then painted the tights bright yellow so they stood out. Holling was so embarrassed at school that he wanted to go to military school.This didn't last long because Holling’s dad was trying to invest in the school, and with a kid in the school he would be more likely to get the investment.
