Flight attendant by day, construction worker on days off, Ms. Sylvia Holt embodies the concept of roots and wings. Her roots were firmly planted when young Sylvia move with her family, in 1970, to Grand Prairie, Texas. There, they joined Sunset Baptist Church. Sylvia was encouraged to test her wings at Sunset, where, in later years she worked in positions that included Assistant Youth Director, Praise Dance Sponsor, Choreographer, Usher and Church Auditor. Before becoming both airline employee and constructions worker, Ms. Holt’s education and career choices were certainly foundational in helping her meld the life she has chosen to lead today. In 1982, Sylvia earned a BBA from Prairie View A&M University where she majored in Marketing and minored in Management. …show more content…

Adding to her professional work experience, Ms. Holt was a Texas State Mortgage Loan Officer for 2 years before acquiring her Mortgage Broker License in 2005 and opened her own mortgage business, Y.K.O. Mortgage Company. Currently, Ms. Holt manages her personal investment properties and has been employed by American Airlines for 31 years. Her airlines tenure has included work in various positions: Flight Attendant Recruiter, Flight Service Manager, Meeting and Special Events Coordinator and she has now added an additional interest: call it construction work, call it carpentry, call her a builder!
