In the fifth Star Wars movie, “The Empire Strikes Back,” there are many ways in which one can interpret the events of the film psychologically. In the instance of this course, I will be examining the movie through the lens of Social Cognitive Theory and Constructivism. I feel this is a great topic idea, especially for Star Wars. There are numerous examples within Star Wars that demonstrate how Princess Leia is not just an ordinary princess. For example, one of the scenes I enjoyed is right after Luke rescues Princess Leia from her cell. Instantly after Luke and Han Solo rescue her from her cell, they become pinned down by continuous blaster fire from the Stormtroopers. While the guys are trying to come up with an escape plan, Princess Leia grabs Luke’s blaster and fires at a grate in the wall, creating a means of escape.…

The award-winning novel, The Road, written by Cormac McCarthy, portrays the man’s unconditional love for his son in the post-apocalyptic world. At first glance, the novel portrays a hopeless, desolate ambience and elements of despair seem to greatly outweigh elements of hope throughout the novel. Upon further analysis of the text, it is evident that McCarthy uses symbols to portray unconditional love and hope, thus making The Road a novel of hope. Throughout the novel, there is a constant battle between good and bad.…

Thirty minutes of play of Zhang Yimou’s “Hero,” I watched two characters, Flying Snow with Moon, hanging blade to blade as if through mystical powers surrounded with spinning colorful leaves. This incredibly lovely scene, decorated in untainted color, shot like a fantasy poetry, and dramatized like angels’ dance, it is unbelievable to be a fight. It is more similar to a swordplay pleasure (Harrison 570). This is the loveliest scene ever filmed and among the spectacles that the film gives to the audience who must be ready to be amazed.…
