Would you be selfish or selfless to Zero? Your going to find out how Stanley’s attitude changed toward Zero from beginning to the end. Stanley’s friendship with Zero went from selfish to selfless. When Stanley went to Camp Green Lake, he was selfish toward Zero.Zero asked Stanley if he could teach him how to read but Stanley said “No, I’m already digging holes.”( Sachar 82) Stanley doesn’t want to teach Zero how to read and write.Stanley Ignored Zero but Zero was trying to help. “Zero was trying to get Stanley’s attention but Stanley kind of Ignored him.”(Sachar 47) Zero dug Stanley’s hole while Stanley visited the Warden.
Stanley and Zero made a deal because Zero dug Stanley’s hole, now Stanley is going to teach him how to read and write.
