As a child he was often left alone, even as an infant child. Which according to Erikson leads to his mistrust of people and his hatred to God and religion. His father was a Serb Orthodox priest, would beat him if something was not done correctly or to his standards. From his beginning he was set up to be a person who would be an awful person. Slobodan was able create his own identity and have intimate relations with his wife and her family. Her uncle is the one who was able to build the foundations for his rise to power in the Communist party while he was still moving up in the private banking sector. Erikson would also say that he was a generative person since he was also striving forward.
When he came into power as the president of Yugoslavia he purged the Communist of people who he saw as a threat to his role. This laid the foundations for him to change the newly formed constitution to fit his presidency. These however caused some distance between the Yugoslav communist and the national communist. He also started slowly “cleansing” the country of people who should not be living in the country. Not only did it kill millions of people, but it also caused three civil wars and revolutions of independence. Slobodan died in prison awaiting trial by an international committee of war
