“Juveniles don’t think of the consequences of their actions”(Beller). This is just like Roger in the novel, Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding. Roger grew up in a family that did not give him severe punishments for the bad things he did. This lead to him doing terrible things that no person should do. In the novel, a group of young British boys end up on a deserted island after their plane crashes. Soon after, the survivors join together, find food and water, and elect a boy named Ralph as leader. Eventually, an older boy named Jack separates from the group and creates his own tribe which Roger soon joins. As the boys are on the island for more time, they become more savage-like as they start to hunt pigs and wear paint on their faces. The two most distinct ones that Golding includes are Roger, a character in the novel, and Jack’s seizure of power.
