Romeo and Juliet have flaws that could or did interfere with their actions. It's our feelings versus our brains, it was love that caused their own downfall. Romeo and Juliet drowned in their love for each other. They were blind to everything except each other and, in the end, they were unable to stay afloat. In Lois Kerschen's article, it says, " Romeo's character's flaw is that he believes in the fates and, therefore, feels powerless to help himself." Para 8. This is a big complication into their death because having no control of your feelings can get people messed up. For Juliet, it's much worse because she's so young and is more prone to being lost and hurt. IN the same article, it says " Juliet's nature is more practical and cautious, but her innocence and the intensity of her love are her downfall." Juliet was very inexperienced with love because of her parents being so uncaring and strict on her. With her experiencing love for the first time with Romeo, she fell strongly for him. Teens are mature enough to understand and make the right decision, therefore, should handle situations better than adults. For, example drinking, teens are told that they can't have alcohol till they're of age and teens know better than to drink. This is not a good argument because though they are mature, the development of the teen brain is still under construction. In the "Adolescent brain development" article it says "Teen's emotional maturity still develops after age 16."
