In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet the characters poor decisions make them responsible for their own misfortunes.
The first mistake Romeo makes is agreeing to his friend Benvolio's suggestion to go to the Capulet's feast. Romeo should not go to the party because he is a Montague whom are in a feud with the Capulet family. If Romeo did not go to the feast he would have not have meant Juliet and would have continued to obsessive with his love for Rosaline. The Capulets servant has Romeo read a letter from the Capulets about a feast. After Romeo reads the letter, “Go thither, and with unattainted eye Compare her face with some that I shall show, And I will make thee think thy swan a crow. said Benvolio”. ( 1.2.84-85) Benvolio is telling
