Precious is an active reader and can read above her grade level. Her favorite book series includes I Survived by Lauren Tarshis and The Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne. She loves to read mysteries because to her they are spooky. Since she is an avid reader, Precious can read complex texts to learn new information and for fun.
Furthermore, Precious enjoys math more than all the other school subjects. She favors math because her math teacher is her favorite teacher. Precious uses number sense and drill to complete her school work. Usually when Rose helps Precious with her math homework she would have Precious read the question and then explain the process she needs to use to get the correct answer. Precious lives with her mother, grandmother, and big sister. Her father is remarried and lives with her step-mother. Precious expresses her love for all her parents and claims her favorite guardian to be her grandmother. Precious states she spends more time with her grandma as they cook and eat together, watch television together, and spends time together after school. Precious spends more time with her grandmother because her mother works and is hardly home. Fortunately, Precious has a guardian who is keeping an eye on her during the hours she is out of school, which will keep her from getting into trouble.
