Percy Jackson is a 12 year old ADHD New York boy who is viewed by everyone as a kid with problems, and has been kicked out of numerous schools. On a trip to the beach, Percy meets Grover, a friend from school, who tells Percy and his mom to leave because they are in great danger. They drive to a mysterious summer camp which is supposedly safe. On arrival, they are attacked by the Minotaur, an ancient monster from Greek mythology. Percy’s mom is grabbed by the Minotaur and she turns into a shower of golden light. Percy, believing his mother is dead, stabs the Minotaur to death and then passes out. He wakes up three days later at a place called Camp Half-Blood. At the camp, he learns that his father was a god and his mom was mortal. He meets a few other demi-gods like Annabeth and Luke while he was on a tour of the camp. That night, he is attacked by a monster and is claimed by his father, Poseidon, who is a god and the brother of Zeus, the king of the gods and Hades, the god of the dead. The next day, Percy was told that the gods are warring because Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen, and he thinks that Percy stole it. On their way to the Underworld, they encounter many monsters like the Furies, Chimera, and Medusa. Ares, the war god, helps them out by giving them a bag of supplies to last them in their journey. They arrive at the doors of Hade’s palace and confront Hades. Hades accuses Percy of taking the master bolt and his helm of darkness. He orders Percy to open his backpack. Percy opens his bag from Ares only to find that the master bolt somehow magically got into the backpack. Hades offers to trade the master bolt for Percy’s mom back. When Percy declines, Hades orders his skeletons to kill them, but they manage to escape to the
