Who Is Oskar Shindler

Oskar Schindler was born on April 28, 1903 in Zwittau located in the Sudetenland now the Czech Republic along with a younger sister named Elfriede. His father Hans Schindler worked as a farm-equipment manufacturer and his mother Louisa was a homemaker. Oskar attended a German-language school where he was a very popular student and had many friends. He then attended an array of turn colleges in Brno where he married to Emilie Pelzl in 1928. After college, he worked numerous amounts of jobs ranging from his own driving school, working alongside his father and selling government properties. These jobs kept him well occupied as an adult and on top of that, he served in the Czechoslovakian army. Ten years after his engagement, he reached the rank of lance corporal. Just one year later, the Germans annexation of the Sudetenland forced him into the Nazi Party. He then obtained an Jewish enamelware factory to kickstart his business and later renamed it to the “German Enamelware Factory” also know as Emailia. He used the old factory to manufacture military goods for the Nazi army. The factory officially opened in 1939 and in just 5 years, it reached peak power with over 1,700 workers.
