An epic hero is a character that possesses courage, strength, and a desire to achieve immortality through heroic actions. A person is considered a hero if they have a problem in their journey and had the strength and courage to solve or address the problem. Odysseus is an epic hero because he possesses the traits of that of a hero. He had the intelligent idea of the Trojan horse and made the Greeks win the Trojan war. After all, he survived the likes of Poseidon, the cyclops, the lotus eaters etc. And after his courageous journey he returned to Ithaca and restored piece in the island.

Odysseus is very clever. According to J.Hunter, ''He was the originator of the trojan horse, the reason which the Greeks were finally able to take the city of Troy itself.'' With Odysseus idea of the trojan horse the Greeks finally outclassed the Trojans. And eventually the Greeks won the trojan war.

One reason is, he freed his men from the drugs of the Lotus-eater. Then, by his clever idea he and his men were able to escape the cyclope's cave and island. He also survived Sylla and the sirens.

He is a faithful man. Although he encountered many women in his journey, like Calypso. His only reason of living was Penelope and Telemachus. If it weren't for them two, Odysseus would have been more then dead.

In conclusion, Odysseus is an epic hero. Why? because he was very clever. After a long journey of Problems he was able to return. He is also courageous, because he helped his men survive through a lot of horrors and at last restored peace in the
