Of all the characteristics discussed in chapter one that define a successful businessman, Nick Woodman (Woodman) seemed to display several qualities such as a passion for his business, tenacity despite failure, customer/customer focus, and execution intelligence. The degree to which each characteristic contributed varies, but is still great all the same. First, the passion that he has for his business and the initial idea GoPro allowed Woodman to create a product that not he himself as an extreme sports enthusiast would use, but anyone that would want to document or a capture a moment worth sharing through their eyes. Being so passionate about his business it allowed him to take advantage of five key motives: being able to learn and repeat, able to work for an extended period, able to overcome any present hurdles, able to receive and distinguish constructive from negative criticism, and being …show more content…
This kind of tenacity is key to the success of a business. Third, with the goal of wanting a rugged first-person camera able to keep up with his sports enthusiast lifestyle, Woodman was able to spot a prime opportunity to introduce a new type of media outlet for sports while being able to satisfy the needs of customers who wanted. Which is also key to the success of a business behind the other three characteristics listed in the textbook. The last entrepreneurial characteristic that he displayed would be execution intelligence by taking the idea of strapping a Kodak camera on your wrist to a successful multimillion-dollar company with several distribution channels consisting of REI, BestBuy, and other large outlets which makes this characteristic secondary to being passionate in order for a business to be
