Once in a battle Napoleon said “When I see a empty throne I feel a urge to sit on it”. Napoleon Bonaparte, a French ruler tried to take over the world and rule it. His childhood, years as a general and his years as a emperor made him a strong ruler. (Vernon, 12-13) The childhood of Napoleon prepared him for war. Napoleon was born August 15 ,1769 on the island of Corsica and his father practiced law. His family belonged to nobility. The military school he went to was in Bernice. He was gifted in math and science and he was good at making decisions. At the age of sixteen he was a lieutenant of artillery in three months he moved up the ranks of private corporal and Sargent. (“Napoleon Bonaparte”) After Napoleon became emperor, he took over the directory. This government was made of three consulates. Napoleon set the the bank of France, and he set up the legion of honor. After napoleon took over France, he had a hard time settling down to a normal life style, He dreamed of glory and fame. He marched against Austria, and if backup had not arrived, he would have been defeated. In 1803, Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory to the United States of America to get money to fight the British. After awhile, Britten gave up much of its land to France, and the French were at peace for ten long years. (“Napoleon Bonaparte”, 5) On December second, he crushed the allied armies and went on to win many battles. Napoleon Bonaparte also dominated the European map. He thought the point of battle was victory, and the object of victory is conquest, and the object of conquest is occupation . After his battles, he made all of his brothers and sisters rulers of places he conquered where as he would be the supreme ruler. (Combee, 252-253)
