Who Is My Mentor

I personally never grew up with anybody being a mentor to me but as I grew older and met different people, I think I can count someone as my mentor. I met a older girl name Mariah Morris and she's twenty-two years old. I met her through my ex girlfriend which is her cousin, But Mariah was like a friend to me when I first met her, our birthdays are two days apart and we share the same sign so i knew we were going to be real close already. She's real skinny and wears glasses, she's has two daughters name Aubrey and Riley and she is a great mother. As I started to be around her more, we started to be more close and tell each other almost everything. She was always a good listener and gave me all the advice she could to make me understand certain situations. I consider her as my mentor because she …show more content…
I remember when me and my ex girlfriend got into this huge fight and she decided to leave me in the middle of nowhere. I had no type of money on me or I didn't know exactly where I was. I still had my phone and I called Mariah to see where she was and when I told her the story about what happened, she instantly stopped what she was doing and came to get me. I felt so relief and I never could call anybody my real friend because Mariah is the definition of a real friend.

The days that I spent with mariah really taught me a lot. She really taught me more about life and what life could really be like. She has difficulties dealing with her daughters and their dads. I always knew she was stressed because she didn't have that extra help she needed from her daughters fathers but she still had a happy side to her, you would've never knew she was going through bad times. It will be days were me and Mariah would be sitting in her car having the deepest conversations. “ Sheronda?” Mariah would say looking towards me.

My junior year in high school, I became a student mentor in our campus’s peer counseling program. This was an incredibly rewarding experience as I had the opportunity to help freshman students assimilate into our high school dynamic. As a peer mentor, I assisted students with personal problems and mediated issues with teachers in order to maximize their learning experience. I also acted as a role model for my mentees by talking frequently about AP and Honors courses and how to be successful in such programs. I put effort into learning about each individual's interests and goals so that I could expose them to clubs and academic courses that they may appreciate such as the Biomedical Academy or our school’s robotics team.…

Mentorship plays such an important role in all of our lives regardless of vocation and interests. Delving into history we see how many of the renowned innovators, actors, politicians, and business leaders were mentored during some stage of their lives. I can recall the names of a few mentor-mentee relationships I became aware of over time - Plato mentored by Socrates - David Letterman mentored by Peter Lassally - Warren Buffet mentored by Benjamin Graham – Steve Jobs mentored by Robert Friedland - Russell Crowe mentored by Tom Sharpin and Bill Gates mentored by Dr. Ed Roberts. Having participated in mentorship at both ends of the spectrum, I know firsthand about its benefits, which include maturity, focus, diligence, accountability and sustained…

Unsurprisingly, the most influential mentor I’ve encountered is you. There are certain things in our upbringing that influences us in a very complete way and I believe the type of parents we grow up with are one of the most impactful things.
