Who is Ludwig van Beethoven?

Who is Ludwig van Beethoven? Only one of the greatest musical geniuses to have ever existed. Beethoven was baptized on December 17th, 1770 in the city of Bonn in the Electorate of Cologne, a principality of the Holy Roman Empire. At that time, he became the first of three boys to survive infancy, birthed by Johann van Beethoven and Maria Magdalena van Beethoven. Casper van Beethoven was born in 1774 and Johann van Beethoven was born in 1776. The family grew up in an abusive nature. Beethoven’s father was an alcoholic, depressed that he was not able to become Kapellmeister(the one who writes music for the church) he put all the pressure on young Beethoven to redeem his father. Neighbors reported seeing Beethoven’s father beating him and forcing him to play the piano in an upright manner, while young Beethoven was bursting with tears. Every mistake or hesitation made would result in another beating from his father. Along with the piano, Beethoven’s father also taught him how to play the violin and clavier. His father also had Beethoven take organ lessons from all over Bonn. In all the instruments he played, he demonstrated a genius knowledge and understanding of music at a very young age. His father had Beethoven perform his first recital at the young age of 7, but everyone was told he was 6 at the time.
