Kasseem Daoud Dean, identified by his stage name Swizz Beatz, is a prominent American record producer, DJ, and rapper, born on August 30, 1978. At the age of 17, he garnered recognition within the hip-hop community as a result of his association with the artist DMX. Cassidy, a rapper, and Grady Spivey were both instrumental in the founding of his record company, Full Surface Records. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz initially encountered each other during the 1990s and subsequently reestablished their connection in 2008. In May 2010, they made a public declaration of their engagement and their anticipation of having a child. Keys and Beatz entered into matrimony in July 2010. The couple is parents to two offspring, Egypt and Genesis.

He was brought up by his mother of Puerto Rican descent, while his father, whose name remains unidentified, transferred from Eritrea to the United States. Swizz resided predominantly in the North East Bronx during his formative years, where he was introduced to the hip-hop culture by his mother. Initially, Swizz attended Harry S. Truman High School but later moved to Atlanta as a result of behavioral problems. Subsequently, he embarked on a course in the Owner/President Management executive program at Harvard Business School. Under the guidance of his aunt Chivon Dean and uncles Waah and Dee, Swizz embarked on his professional journey. He commenced working with the record label Ruff Ryders, which was under the ownership of his uncles, thereafter embarking on a career as a track producer for diverse musicians.
