Who Is John Proctor Admirable In The Crucible

Improved Essays
All that glitters, is not gold. Not all the people you see, are the people you think they are. Some are more admirable than others, and this doesn’t just apply to people in society, it applies to any character in anything. A book, a movie, etc. Everyone has their favorite character in a book, but they also have a character, they hate. In The Crucible, John Proctor is the most admirable character and Abigail is the least admirable. John Proctor stands with his word. If he says he is going to do something, he is going to do it. He always tries to do the right thing no matter the circumstances. For example, he signed a paper that if he would’ve lied, he would live, but he has good morals and chose not to lie even though it meant losing his life.

“Moral values, and a culture and a religion, maintaining these values are far better than laws and regulations,” -Swami Sivananda. This quote pretty much means that people’s moral values are worth more than following the laws. Some characters in The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, would choose death over staying truthful to their morality. People were, and still are, too concerned with accepting their morality. In the story, people, instead of lying and saying they participated in witchcraft, stayed honest in not being part of witchcraft, which later got them killed or in trouble.…
