Who Is John 3: 1-21

Improved Essays
In John 3:1-21 A Pharisee and leader of the Jews named Nicodemus converses with Jesus about how one can enter the kingdom of God. Jesus speaks to him using parables just as he did in Mark. In Mark, we learned that parables are used to speak to God’s people but to keep those who are not at bay. The Pharisee should be able to understand Jesus but we soon find out that he does not. Jesus states that only a son of God can enter the kingdom of God when he declares “no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit” (John 3:5). Essentially Jesus tells Nicodemus that in order to know the kingdom of God, he must have faith in God but Nicodemus does not understand. This is surprising because even though Jesus isn’t speaking directly, Nicodemus is “a teacher of Israel, and yet [he] does not understand these things” (John 3:10). Jesus goes on to explain the role of the Son of Man and how he can save the world. He states that the Son of Man, who is Jesus, can save the world if they believe in him but if they don’t then they “are condemned already, because they have not believe in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:18).

In short, Jesus fulfills the Kingdom in three ways: Through God’s people, through God’s place, and through God’s rule/blessing (God 's Big Picture, Chapter 6, pp. 107–21) First, Jesus fulfills the kingdom through God’s people (God 's Big Picture, Chapter 6, pp. 109–14). What do I mean by this? Well I think an example will help. When we look at Adam in the Garden of Eden, we see that he fell into sin; in other words, Adam failed in what he was supposed…

The Book of John is foundational to the Christian faith. As a foremost document declaring the deity of Jesus, the text decisively establishes that He is God. Contained in the book, there are clear declarations by Jesus where He uses the name of God for Himself. By using the Old Testament name of God, “I AM,” Jesus is speaking in a style that presents Himself as deity. One place where this testimony is undisputable is in the description of the Good Shepherd.…

The Gospels of The New Oxford Annotated Bible aim to tell of the life of Jesus Christ. The authors build the narratives around the Father-Son relationship of God and Jesus because of how much of an impact God’s sacrifice has on Jesus’ ministry. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life” (John 3:16). Throughout the book of John, Jesus repeatedly says that he is the Son of God, the Son of Man, and God. If Jesus is both the Son of God and God, then it follows that God himself is the Son of Man as well.…

The impact of the Babylonian Exile occurred when Cyrus of Persia entered Babylon on October 30th, 539 B.C. Due to his entrance in Babylon, the Jewish captives were released to go home and rebuild their community and lives. The city that was being rebuilt by the Jews was nothing too spectacular and most of the returners were citizens of another nation. The nation tended to lack multiple national boundaries which resulted in making the social boundaries stronger. They acquired more of a sacrificed-centered religion, rather than one focusing on Christ.…

John uses the Greek word “logos” to connect Jesus with the creation account in Genesis 1 and the Greek principle of cosmic reason (Bethel, n.d.). The Greek word “logos” was used in early Christian writings, to describe the role of Jesus, as being an active role in God’s divine plan for creating and structuring humanity (Logos, 2017). During the time that John lived, “logos” was a Stoic term, used to refer to how divine intelligence was used to create and sustain the world (Harris, 2014, p. 242-243). John connects the word “logos” with the word of God and the sacrifice of Jesus, and John designates “logos” to being the power that the world, cosmos, comes from. By connecting Jesus with “logos”, John was telling followers that Jesus is superior…

He claims that,“the Kingdom of God was first instituted by the Ministry of Moses over the Jews only; and cased afterward in the election of Saul”. This argument collides with the New Testament, and the Catholic doctrine all combine. The word “Kingdom of God” also may have many different uses in the bible, like earthly kingdom, to state of mind, to Jesus, or even to a Christian Community. Verses of the bible say the” Kingdom of God is an era that has already arrived. “If I fast out devils by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you’’[Luke 11:20].…

Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world.
