I chose “Success Is Scarier Than Failure”, where Jemele Hill talked about how all of her negatives turned into positive things in life. He parents were on welfare, so it gave her an opportunity to go to college for free in the Michigan State University. She was emphasizing throughout the whole speech that failure leads to new opportunities and success. I can’t say I fully agree with her statements. I do believe that we learn on our mistakes and failures, however, failures don’t necessarily lead to success in the future. One of her biggest challenges was dealing with drug addicted parents. She had to learn how to be an adult at an early age. Jemele didn’t let the obstacles stop her from chasing her dreams. She got into university and now is a speaker at the TedTalk. She said her main fear is success because it sets certain expectations that people feel they must fulfill to maintain their status.
If I was in the same situation as Jemele, I would definitely try to find a solution to any issue or problem I would phase. I believe that people cannot and should not be changed. Each individual brings their own set of unique qualifications. Unlike the speaker, I am not scared of success. The feeling of success actually motivates me to be

I always try to escape the failure before it occurs. If I get a gut feeling that the action I’m performing will lead to an unexpected and unwanted results, then I will discontinue planning/performing the action. The goals I am setting most of the time will lead to a successful career. In my opinion, success comes from visualizing and setting S.M.A.R.T. goals. Many of famous actors and sportsmen learned to visualize success long before the action is performed. For example, Jim Carrey is known for picturing himself being the greatest actor and giving a speech for receiving Oscar. He might have not reached all of his ideal goals, but he is satisfied with the way his life turned

People who aim to accomplish success, set goals to help them determine if they have attained success. Any goals not met indicate that you are still striving for success and working towards it. Another way of knowing if you have accomplished success is when you feel contentment and harmony in your life with your actions and reactions. I think Vicomtesse is not successful in her life, while Phil is partially successful. Vicomtesse has had failures in life, for example, hunger, no family life, and homelessness.…

When I sense I may fail at something, I make an attempt anyways. This helps me break away from the trap of the fixed mindset and into the more productive world of the growth mindset. When I try even though I think I will fail, and end up succeeding, it is a pleasant surprise that inspires me to keep trying. For example, I would often tell myself that I was horrible at math in high school. Based on my past low scores, I assumed my math skills were “fixed” and could not improve.…

Steve Jobs was once fired from his own company, Bill Gates watched his first company crumble, and Milton Hershey started three candy companies before Hershey’s. These people including Walt Disney are all examples of failure before their success finally came. These stories are not the only stories of success, but they should give inspiration to some people. Reasons to stick with your dreams and to not give up might be hard, but once you reach the point of success the whole process of it will always be worth it.
