Gunfire rings out through the quiet community at dusk; bullets riddle the air, flying towards an innocent boy perched on his mother’s porch. As a result, the serene atmosphere the boy enjoyed had been interrupted by discomfort as a bullet pierced his meager body. Of course, this young man needs some heroes, not ones who flutter through the sky, or ones with super strength, but everyday heroes who help us each day. His heroes show up. His mother rushes to the side of her precious son. Police officers and paramedics arrive to give their assistance. Doctors and nurses begin the work of mending his wounds to keep him alive. Heroes can be found everywhere doing all sorts of heroic tasks on a daily basis, and many times go unnoticed as heroes.

Multifold would be overcome with smoke, or even burned to death without firefighters rushing into the burning building to deliver them from certain death. These courageous men and women are found all over the world, giving of themselves to save lives. There are those who dedicate their lives to saving lives. Nevertheless, countless times we fail to give these heroes a second though. We go about our daily lives, not realizing there are thousands of heroes out there operating until we happen to need one. These people are ordinary people who wake up in the morning with one goal in mind, being someone’s hero that day, saving someone’s life.
Heroes come in all shapes and dimensions. A child on the playground witnesses another child being tormented and bullied by other children. Lending a hand to a bullied child may not be an easy conclusion to reach. Helping could mean harm to yourself, but the child decides to help and becomes a hero. There are some who are willing to stick their neck out to help you. A child may be the last definition someone would use to describe a hero, but children can be heroes
