A mentor is someone that somebody looks up to and goes to for advice and guidance. Romeo and Juliet, a famous play by William Shakespeare, is a heart touching story about two star-crossed lovers who would rather take their lives than be apart. Friar Lawrence is a man of God that Romeo and someone who Juliet trust and turn to for advice so they can be together, but he leads them to their deaths. In desperate situations,he married them,came up with a solution so they could be together, and ultimately gave them a potion that would soon kill them .The deaths of Romeo and Juliet is at the fault of Friar Lawrence his rash careless decisions and poorly thought out plan left Romeo and Juliet at desperate measures that led to a tragedy.

Some may say that there are other factors that made matters worse like her parents leaving her with no other choice but to marry Paris or dishonoring her for the rest of her life and the nurse abandoning her when she was in need the most. However Friar Lawrence is always the one who bring the crisis to a boil. Ultimately Friar Lawrence gave them a death wish from a potion that would end their lives."What if it be a poison, which the friar Subtly hath minister'd to have me dead,Lest in marriage he should be dishonour'd Because he married me before to Romeo? I fear it is " (4.3.25-28).Friar Lawrence's plan to give Juliet the vial was foolish, it was a sin for Friar to marry someone who was already married so Juliet question his intentions herself. Juliet was worried that she would wake up alone, and even go crazy but she never thought that she would wake up alone with Romeo dead right beside her. Because Friar Lawrence Gave Juliet the potion Romeo was not aware of the plan and decides to take a poison himself. ‘’Eyes, look your last. Arms, take your last embrace. And, lips, O you The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss.
