Who Is Colonel Aureliano Buendia

The Buendia family is cycling through a trap of unanswered love and presentiment. Head of the house, Jose Arcadio Buendia, detached himself from his family to fixate on his inventions, up until his dying day. Thus far, the word “solitary” is used to describe Colonel Aureliano Buendia, more than any other character. His brother Jose Arcadio, deserted him as a child, his father abandoned him for his own self indulged projects, and he tragically loses, who I believe to be, the love of his life. Amaranta has encountered several marriage proposals including one from her nephew, however, she has completely shut herself down romantically. She blames herself for the death of Pietro Crespi and feels ashamed for the feelings she harbors toward her nephew. Aureliano Jose is rejected by Amaranta. Sadly, the solitary life of Jose Arcadio Buendia, has left Ursula in solitude, to endure the tragic consequences of her family and pick up any pieces that she can salvage. The Buendia family are not just physically alone, but their solitude has a mental presence. They chose to live in the past which hinders the escape of solitude. They are all affected by this mental solitary confinement, and they are the only ones to understand it. The presence of solitude is transferred from one to the next and keeps repeating the pattern for generations to come. I felt there was a compulsion for solitude. The Buendia family is creating their own
