Bob Ewell is the current head of a family that has been "the disgrace of Maycomb for three generations. None of them had done an honest day’s work in his recollection” (Lee, 40). In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, Bob Ewell is know as the main antagonist. He is the drunken, and unemployed dad of the Ewell family and a member of Maycomb’s poorest family. In his deliberately wrongful accusation that a black man, Tom Robinson, raped his daughter, Ewell represents the dark side of Maycomb and the South in general. His ignorance reveals itself throughout the novel with his poverty and negative racial prejudice.
