Throughout the ages, mankind has seen countless amounts of heroes rise and fall, but what makes them a hero? Epic heroes rise from absolutely nothing and perish in amazingly horrific ways, tragic heroes have one flaw that continues through their life till it ultimately kills them, but historical heroes are very unique from these other two. While those heroes are nice to imagine about in a make believe world, these real heroes actually had to face these hardships and stayed determined, like Sir Isaac Newton, one of the smartest men of his time.

Beowulf shows his leadership role with his men and also shows how they obey his orders. When Beowulf rose up, “his men around him…leading the others quickly” and they took off to start their journey (Raffel). He can also be seen showing his strength while in the midst of his enemies. In his story, Beowulf was “watched from the rise from the darkness of war, dripping with his enemies’ blood” and was able to lead his men through it all (Raffel). He can cause people who hear about what he has done to instantly admire him by how they “are confident” and how he is very persuasive and optimistic for the future (Literature). From past ages, these influential men shine the brightest when their back is against the wall and nobody has any confidence in them, because then they strive even harder to succeed for their fame and glory; which in time it lights a spark of awe and wonder into the eyes of people around the world. The hero has to be intelligent and strong willed enough to take the lead in their “tough times” of life when it does not seem to be going their way. Historical heroes should maintain his composure and his courage even when most people expect them to fail.
