The epic poem Beowulf was translated by Seamus Heaney and was written by an unknown poet during the Anglo-Saxen time period. Beowulf is a story about a warrior living in what is on Denmark. The poem tells of some of the many quests that this young warrior has attempted throughout his life. After attempting these quests some consider him a hero, while others do not. Whether he is a hero or not he fought many brave battles. In these battles Beowulf has encountered many terrifying monsters and still never feared the thought of losing his life. One of the many terrifying monsters that Beowulf encountered was Grendel. Grendel was seen as one of the worst monsters "Geatland" has ever encountered. Grendel's mother who learns of the death of her son is now seeking revenge. That night she goes to the mead hall with one mission. She kills one person- Hrothgar's best friend and advisor. Beowulf is then sent on a quest to kill her. Beowulf sets out to find the home of Grendel's mother. They find it with the head of Hrothgar's friend near. Beowulf and Grendel's mother have a very bloody and gruesome battle in the water until finally Beowulf uses the unbeatable sword.Beowulf then

Beowulf brings home Grendel's head and the sword as a tribute to hrothgar. Beowulf is then rewarded many more valuables and most importantly Hrothgar teaches Beowulf what it means to be king and to respect life. Hrothgar declares Beowulf fit to be king of the Geats. Hygelac awards Beowulf the best sword and treasure that the Geats own. He was now officially a brave warrior.
The third and final monster that Beowulf encounters is the Dragon. After 50 winters and Beowulf is king of the Geats the dragon gets awoken by someone stealing his treasures. He then begins to attack the people and the cities in Geatland. He burns the villages and kills the people. Beowulf gathers eleven of his most trustworthy men and the thief for he knows where the lair is. When the dragon appears only one man remains by Beowulf's side this was Wiglaf. Wiglaf showed his true colors when “ The noble son of Weohstan\saw the king in danger at his side\and displayed his inborn bravery and strength” ( Beowulf 2694-2696). Wiglaf proved his bravery when he
