Who Is Baz Luhrmann In The Great Gatsby

Director Baz Luhrmann of The Great Gatsby aimed to bring to life F. Scott Fitzgerald's American classic to life. Throughout the film Luhrmann shows the drama, sadness, and you get to see the party atmosphere. Luhrmann also portrays the characters pretty accurately to Fitzgerald’s novel, and to most of the settings that are mainly touched such as the Valley of Ashes, Gatsby’s house, and the Buchanan's house. As well as, uses mainly all of the appropriate music of a combination of both jazz and modern music throughout the film. Baz Luhrmann portrays pretty accurately especially to Nick Carraway's character of showing his morality. Throughout the film Luhrmann shows Nick is the most moral character with Nick being confused from when Tom took him to the Valley of Ashes to meet his affair and to Daisy and Gatsby love in secret. For instance, East Egg, where the Buchanan’s home is, the representation of old money is seen with trophies of sports, and having a bunch of servants working all throughout the house. The scene that wasn’t accurate as describe in the novel was when Nick learns about Gatsby’s past and where he actually came from. Gatsby’s past is scattered all throughout the end of the movie. Gatsby’s first party scene of which Nick is invited is shown for quite a long time in the film, but there was lack of appeal to the eye to see what most parties during the 1920s consisted of due to the camera moving around to quickly. What was seen at the party scene was people from both the rich and poor came together to party all night long and not have issues with one another.
