The first one is an Allegro ma non troppo. we can hear the alternation of the Bassoon and the bright sounds of the flute, the oboe and the clarinet. The tempo in not fast at the start but it speeds up a bit.
The second movement is an Allegro vivace so it's faster that the first one, but not by much. It's joyful, it conveys happiness, at least to me. the sound are bright because this movement is led mainly by the flute, the oboe and the clarinet. I liked the pace of this movement.
The third movement is an Andante Grazioso, this means that it shouldn't as fast as the others but not even slow. The movement is graceful, it's calm,

This piece begins with a tranquil woodwind choir with other instruments gradually joining in. The tempo is andante, as it is moderately slow, yet more of a simple pace. This work takes advantage of dynamics heavily, as it varies from pianissimo with a solo flute to a gorgeous and strong fortissimo dynamic of the whole ensemble. This piece also varies in texture quite a bit, as it alternates between monophonic soloist sections and grand homophonic sections of the whole band. Most of the melodic lines are smooth and legato, yet are disrupted by the pointed and staccato figures of the percussion section that underscore the longer lines of the wind instruments.…

Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is one of the most well-known symphonies ever written. The first movement is “fast with vigor”. The introduction is somewhat deceiving because it does not feel fast. The smoothness of it allows the listener to sit back and forget how quickly the music is progressing. It is not until the first half cadence from V/V to V that the listener feels how dynamic the movement is.…

From the slow tempo, the dynamics of the gradually went to a crescendo in which they sounded more exuberant. The piece went from a slow tempo to a gradual fast tempo in which it seemed like the performers were expressing themselves along the piece. For instance, in one of the pieces, Javier Mendoza had the performers go from a crescendo to a decrescendo.…

The 1st movement is kind of Sonata-Allegro form. The opining melody of the first movement was soft and slow with a touch of melancholy and I love this type. It starts with a softly-lovely flute and then the violins with strings accompanying. The violins are way up in the high part of their pitch which making it more refreshing. The tempo is not fast at the beginning, but then it become faster a little bit with violins.…

This piece is called “Cello Suite No. 3, Op. 87”, which consisted of nine movements. The first movement, “Introduzione: Leno” was performed incorporated intense fast paced speed accompanied with numerous different bowing techniques, such as pizzicato and double stops, fingering with the right hand, and a staccato resulting in shorter sounds or spiccato, where the strings are struck by the bow. The piece opens up with extreme acceleration and transitioning to a softer sound. The performance moved on to the third movement, “Barcarolla: Lento” and sixth movement, “Fuga: Andante”, where Johnson played with pianissimo and sharper sound, starting slow then speeding up and returning to the same or a newer paste throughout the piece. Moreover, the mood begins with a melancholic and continues with dark, depressing phase highlighted by its ever-changing intensity and changing texture.…

Throughout the piece, the piano’s dynamics were played at a mezzo forte level. There was at times quick staccatos and accents, however I heard very little crescendos and diminuendos. If there was anything more I would have liked from the piece it would have been a broader range of dynamics that came from the pianist. Even when the baritone had nothing to sing, the constant monochromatic sound from the piano was unmoving.…

The rhythm of the song was consistent, here and there is ranged but nothing to force. The tempo to me felt a slower at the start. Then gradually toward the end it picked up. I felt as the harmony of this as very complex. This was a familiar to me, later on recognized it as a fragment part from ‘Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light’ which was written by Johann Sebastian Bach, which I have heard many times at church.…

Track1: The Firebird, finale 1. The first few minutes of this piece are pianissimo, and I must say I enjoyed the extreme softness in the beginning of the symphony. As I was listening I noticed the crescendo throughout the piece until about one minute and thirty four seconds. Then the orchestra was playing pianissimo again for just a few seconds.…

The orchestra consisted of instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and flutes, that helped create an allegro moderato orchestral introduction. This being Mozart’s first Violin Concerto, it is very important that he begins his work in this way, showing progression in his creative career. It demonstrates the transaction between some of his first piano concertos, to his new development of mastering the art of the violin. This charming and energetic introduction then leads to the adagio movement; a slower flow. Hsuan-…

On Thursday, September 29th at 7:30pm I attended the LU Symphony Orchestra Concert in Towns Auditorium. Prior to the concert beginning, I noticed a wide variety of instruments on the stage. There were some instruments that I did not know the name of but for the most part, I knew a large majority of the string, woodwind and brass instruments presented. The last time that I went to a symphony was when I was in elementary school, so attending an orchestral concert in college was a much different experience. I was fascinated by the diversity of instruments.…
