"In Romans 1:16, Apostle Paul said 'I am not ashamed of the gospel. Actually in Rome, the atmosphere is that people are ashamed of it. 2,000 years ago, it was not easy to preach this gospel. If you were to spread the gospel at this time, you could be crucified. The center of the world in that era was Rome. Rome was really a splendid city. Who is this Jesus? Paul was a Roman citizen but chose to be entirely dependent on and abide in Christ Jesus (Romans 1:1). Paul’s impact was made known because of his citizenship and willingness to serve and obey Jesus…

The apostolic gospel is defined as an expansion of 1 Corinthians 15, where Paul “quote[s] tradition” in that he follows what the scriptures laid out as the story of Jesus-a continuation of the story of Israel (47). After establishing the definition of the apostolic gospel, McKnight continues on to investigate the point the Church swayed from preaching the apostolic gospel of the Lord’s inward and outward salvation of the world to preaching a gospel focused on individual salvation.…

“The opposite of discipleship is to be ashamed of Christ and his cross and all the offence which the cross brings in its train .” Fundamentally feeling ashamed means to be embarrassed by feelings of guilt; but no one should ever be humiliated for the astonishing miracle God performed through His Son on that old rugged cross. The Apostle Paul shamelessly calls out in the Book of Romans, Chapter 1 Verse 16, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...” No believer of Jesus Christ should ever be humiliated for the sake of His superb sacrifice which saved the entire world; instead they should go to the ends of the earth making believers of all kinds so that all men may be reconciled to the Creator. My faith is based on those ethics; that the cross has been laid on me, I have released everything of the world which holds me back from him, I will suffer daily as Christ suffered, and I will not be ashamed of the Gospel of…

Because Paul had not yet visited Rome personally, he chose to write this epistle, also known as a letter, to the people preparing both himself and them for the reasons he would travel there in person.
