Andrew Warhola (Andy Warhol) was born on August 6th, 1928, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. His parents were Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants, and Andy was the youngest of 3. Andy attended Holmes School in Pittsburgh and attended free art classes at Carnegie Institute. Andy loved art, movies, and frequently went to the local cinema. When Andy was nine, he was given his first camera. Andy converted a section of his parent’s basement into a darkroom where he developed his pictures. In 1945 Andy attended Carnegie Institute of Technology where he majored in Pictorial Design and earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree.
