Identities In the modern society each of us performs multiple roles. Each role involves particular responsibilities or behavior that partially depends on expectations of others. Different people perform their roles in different way and with a different approach. Some believe that it is important to be yourself and not to be an artificial single role performing robot, even on the workplace. Others believe that in order to perform their roles properly, they need to focus themselves primarily on the performing their roles and express less of the inner selves. First, people do not possess a core self. By behaving open and talking to a customer in unprofessional casual way on the working place doesn’t mean that you being yourself. When you are being sincere it helps to communicate with people in the faster manner, even when performing a certain role. A person could understand another person faster and there will be less misunderstanding while communicating, since you will be able to recognize other person’s intensions better. Based on my experience people are able to be both types, low and high performing. It’s the way they understand the society based on the experience they had. It’s difficult to recognize how well do you perform your roles sometimes, because it becomes natural to you. I noticed that the value of a particular role or the value of an activity related to this role determines a role performance of an individual.
