The novel uncovered the crimes against women and girls that are going on in Juarez, and which I was not aware of. If not for the novel I would still be in the dark. The most interesting part of the book is Ivon's ego. The search for her sister led to the discovery of the violent actions taking place at the border of US and Mexico; the border patrol and the corruption in Juarez. With no help, Ivon takes the matter into her hands and look for ideas and asks anyone who would care to listen about the kidnapping of her sister, Irene. The city of Juarez is 'polluted' with evil acts such as the abduction, torture, and rape of young girls. There is corruption in the law enforcement in the novel. The law enforcers are the one aiding in the implementation of the killings and the illegal rape. The police are blackmailed and receive bribes from the kidnappers. The police hence tamper with the real crimes and generate social stories to the public so that they would remain
