Think about the year, 2016. The current state of the country seems to be in upheaval in regards towards civil liberties of any form. I would like to speak on a particular civil issue that isn’t brought to the mainstream as much of the other also important issues of our day, the current state of the indigenous people of our country, the Native Americans. The people who once lived in North America for thousands of years has been systematically reduced to what appears to be mainstream culture of casinos, sport teams, and mascots. Throughout recent years, as the population of native Americans keeps declining, there have been activists who have been speaking up against the many issues that their community faces.…

That took coordination and communication. Especially since all of money was raised through events we held and not through donations. Me, my co-captain, and my teammates all had to work together to make that happen.…

Over the past century we have seen not only our population skyrocket, but also our technological capacity increase exponentially. My worldview, primarily eco-centric, is focused on the incredible potential of technology to create sustainable harmony between humanity and the earth. We have gotten to a point in our evolution where it will be impossible to revert to our pre-industrial state. Our resources are limited and should not be wasted, this traces back to the fundamental property of the universe: energy and matter cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted between forms. So much matter is wasted and converted into a state in which it is impossible to recover it, and instead of draining the earth we should be focusing on developing inexhaustible…

After reading The Great Escape and Half the Sky and considering each one carefully, I would say that the way Kristoff and WuDunn explains about helping the oppressed people and offering aid, it is more specific and very carefully explained then Angus Deaton. For this reason, I would say Kristoff and Wudunn would be right about the foreign aid. The aid help that the Half of the Sky talks about is helping specific causes that are hurting the world’s progress because most of them are crimes against women that are most of the time voiceless.…

How do you personally define empathy/caring/healing, or what characteristics or qualities do you believe positive health care professionals need to possess? My personal definition of empathy is the ability for a person to comprehend and share feelings with another person due to past experiences or out of plain respect. In my opinion, the word caring means exhibiting sympathy and concern for others, and the word healing is the process of a human being or living organism recuperating from an injury or becoming healthy again. I believe some of the characteristics and qualities a positive health care professional must possess are: excellent communication skills, emotional stability, flexibility, empathy, physical endurance, interpersonal skills,…
