Who is a good friend? Everyone has different personalities making it difficult to limit the definition of what good friends should be to just one single definition. Even though there are several views and perspectives of what a good friend should be, there are some characteristics that remains the same. For me, a good friend is someone who is always there for you when you need them, they are trustworthy, loyal, and honest no matter what. A good friend is someone that you have fun with, someone who cheers you up when you are having a bad day; a good friend provides safety, comfort, and happiness. They are people you can share your darkest and intimate secrets with; people you feel confident in disclosing private matters to, people who will not disclose what you have told them to others no matter what. Sometime the bonds of friendship are challenged when we do not reciprocate and treat others the way we like to be treated. Friends will get upset with one another and become talkative, with a desire to reveal confidential information about their friend. For example, Suzan was in an abusive relationship and confided in her best friend that she was leaving her fiancée with no plans in letting him know; Suzan was afraid of been abused more if she told her fiancé she was leaving. Suzan and her best friend had, had a disagreement a few days before Suzan decided to pack up and leave. After Suzan left, her fiancée went to her friend’s house to seek out her whereabouts. Even though friends may not always support your decision, they are always there when you need them. For instance, when I decided to go back to school my best friend supported my decision.
