Who I Am Today Research Paper

The reason I have come to be who I am today has to do with the experiences I have had and the decisions I have made . The first being my decision to leave my family, pack my bags and begin a life much different than what it would have been if I had stayed and not left for India. I decided to complete my pre collegiate studies in India when I was in third grade because I missed older sister; the other reason was because to me India had always been a vaction spot where I sipped on coconut water, shopped for elboratly beaded attire and feasted like a Raja(King)! My mom was not very found of the idea of two out of her three daughters staying half way acoss world but she came to terms with it eventually. My dad on the other hand was all for it! He wanted all three of his daughters to really understand our culture and what it stood for, which would allow us to stay true to our roots. …show more content…
The person that had the most effect on me was my tutor Revamma teacher. She lived in a house bulit of floors that creaked and a thached roof that leaked, with her daughter, mother and brother Jayan. She treated me like her own daughter, by offering me food even when she barely have enough to feed her own family, and brought me sweets from the temple as treats. I felt as if I were apart of the family.
If it wasn’t for Revamma teacher I would have failed misserably in school. She was an advocate for education because she believes that it is the only think that truly stays with you. She scolded me when needed and rewarded me when I earned it. She told tales of gods and godesses. She reminisced of better and bitter times. She was generous, appreciative , and found beauty in everything. I believe that we as humans say and do what we see and hear. So naturally I adopted some of her ways and for that I am eiternally

The most influential person in my life was someone I never got to meet was my grandmother her name was Honey Sanguinetti because she died before I was born, I only have photos to see what she looked like at my age, very tall with long black hair, my father told me that she had chocolate-brown eyes just like me, and a deep tan complexion. That is all I know about because she died when my father was about five and my grandfather in no longer alive, but I do know that she had a kind soul and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind if she saw something happening that she thought was wrong. From photos and stories, I have found that she loved horses so much that she started to rescue them, like her own horse a large Hanoverian gelding by the name of Thunder-head. Nevertheless, even though she couldn’t afford to start her own rescue center, she still wanted to help horses. She even wrote down everything she did with the horses in a bunch of journals.…

But, that hasn’t been my life. A personal statement should be true to your character and I would be lying if I wrote about how depressed I was about life and discouraged by the difficulties I faced. First and foremost, I would like to say thank you Jesus for molding me into who I am today. Although life isn’t “peachy”, I give glory and honor to God for who he’s shaping me to be. I was raised in a home where I knew about God through traditions and locations; however, I did not understand the concept of having a personal relationship with him. Being the youngest of three children, I constantly felt the need to prove myself and, therefore, battled with insecurity. When my early teen years came, I started being influenced by whomever and whatever was around me.…
