Let me tell you about the summer that changed my perspective. So at the summer camp where I work at, there was this one kid that stood out amongst the rest. His name was Joey. The certain lengths he went to misbehave was impressive. You could even applaud him for his efforts. If you think of a kid that acts up and causes a ruckus, Joey was the one you thought of. “I got you guys, good” Joey said while giggling.

I can’t lie, Joey really made me and the other counselors really laugh. But obviously there was a problem here, because this

Young children are exceptionally impressionable. They copy their peers, parents, and siblings to learn everything they do. They have overreactions to simple challenges because they have not yet learned how to behave. For a child who experiences a tragedy, the influence can be devastating, and something they can carry with them for their whole lives. Steven Church’s narrative essay “I’m Just Getting to the Disturbing Part” demonstrates human reactions toward a disaster, while expressing the author’s firsthand experience to a tragedy he witnessed as a child by using an ominous text throughout his story.…

risis is indeed a word used daily in my job setting. A crisis can be defined in many ways. According to Kanel (2014), a crisis is a state of disequilibrium that occurs after a stressor (precipitating event). The person is then unable to function in one or more areas of his or her life because customary coping mechanisms have failed. An example of a crisis that I recently dealt with was with one of the students I currently work with.…

Dear Katie, It was especially exciting for me to meet you and your son Geoff earlier this week. I just dimmed it necessary that I write you and summarize on what you narrated to me during the session. The people around us impact our lives through interactions and experiences gained from their presence. An obstacle I faced my freshmen year of high school was being a victim of an abusive relationship. In movies, bullies are perceived as rude kids who pick on others and hurt them whether that be physically or mentally. In school, you are taught about bullying, shown how to recognize when someone is being mean to you and bringing you down. Sometimes, people who are abusive are not always obvious at first glance, my abuser used his charismatic ways to manipulate and hurt the people he claimed to care for.…

“Chivalry is simply an act of kindness toward a person who is deserving (or not) of receiving that kindness” (Beauti). Chivalry has existed for decades, since knights, princesses, and castles existed. But since then, chivalry has started to fade away. Over the past several years three things have come up: parental influence has lessened, men don’t care about being kind, and feminism. These things have always been there, but lately in the 21st century, it all has become a more critical problem.…
