In Who Belongs in the Zoo, the author discusses the necessity to transform zoos from confined spaces to well-facilitated expanses fostering a healthy living for their inhabitants. Most of the existing zoos are inapt for many animals and adversely impact the animals’ physical and mental well-being. Animals such as, elephants, bears and giraffes need an extensive space to strive else, they may suffer from numerous health complications or even, premature death. Furthermore, the author points out that a few national zoos which house creatures humanely are sufficient to cater to tourists.
