Who Are You Worthy To Be Called?

Improved Essays
Are you worthy to be called? Does God only call those who are perfect and righteous? Is His first choice those who are intelligent, or those of good heritage? Not according to I Corinthians 1:26, “For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.” God purposely calls and uses the unrighteous, the weak, and the least pedigreed. God used Rahab, who was a harlot, to help the Israelites capture the City of Jericho. Likewise, God chose Gideon, a nobody, to save the Israelites from the Midianites. Gideon who knew he was weak responded to God by essentially asking, “Why me?” Gideon said, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is …show more content…
Some of the people God calls may appear to be the worst person, and seemingly are the least deserving of his calling, mercy, and love. However, when they are called God opens their eyes, and they can see the treacherous things they have done, and how much they need God’s forgiveness, love and mercy. God’s way changes them down to their core. Eventually, some repent and beg God to have mercy on them. Paul is one of the best examples of a terrible man who was dramatically changed once God called him. He realized how awful he had been and repented. Paul’s life was completely changed and instead of searching for Christians to kill he searched for Christians so that he could share the Gospel message. Paul became a messenger of God. God is not looking for the elite to help deliver his Gospel message. He chooses the weak, and they have the option to change, and receive God’s grace the same as those who might be viewed as

Jesus was known as being the man who went against the ‘norm’ when he saw something that was unjust, he did what he thought was right and ignored what others thought as they just stood by and ignored the bad things in the world that needed fixing. Jesus didn’t care who he was helping and whether or not he would be judged by others if he helped people who didn’t fit into society, he believed that you should help others above yourself no matter who they are or what they have done, he believed it was better to help others and be humiliated by the general public instead of not helping. These actions this relate to a quote from the Philippians 2:3 - “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,”.…

I was raised in a Christian school and had the privilege of hearing preaches of all different denominations and ways of thinking give their opinions of the world in a Biblical context. The problem seemed to be that many of them had different opinions. I found that Romans 1-8 is a good place to start uncovering God’s truth for areas such as: the natural world, human identity, human relationships, culture, and what my worldview should be.…

The ministers of God have become more people pleasers pretending to please God and are guided by the fear of man. However, Servants are inspired by the fear of the Lord and by serving others. Servants of Jesus Christ tend to leave disapproval or approval for God to judge. Jesus is the best example of a servant leader in ministry in Matthew13:14–17, “He instructs His disciples: If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.”…

People have a tendency to exalt themselves above others. Pride is a dominate feature of what we tend to think of as modern cultures. This is no less the case in Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, people place themselves and others in social classes, almost always placing themselves at the top, unaffected by the fact that they might be on the bottom of someone else’s list. People have a tendency to blindly push other humans below them in a way that is unchristian, prideful and humbling to its object.…

State Election refers to God’s pre-creation decision in which he chose, or “elected,” individuals to receive every spiritual blessing including salvation. The basis of this election roots in both (1) his foreknowledge (e.g. knowledge of what will take place in the future) of those that will respond positively in faith to his calling, as well as (2) his divine selection of specific individuals in accordance with his gracious, redemptive plan for the whole world. Support The Holy Scripture, specifically Ephesians 1:3-11, makes clear that God according to his will determined prior to creation specific individuals would be destined (or predestined) to receive every spiritual blessings (e.g. wisdom, knowledge, forgiveness of sins) including salvation.…
