Have you ever thought about how you would die? Would it be old age, an accident or a life threatening disease? Imagine what it would be like to be barely hanging on, given an artificial life by machines hooked up to your body, or live every day thinking that it could be the last, every breath is a stab of excruciating pain. Is this how you imagined to die? Many patients through out the world endure experiences like these. They are faced with unbearable pain and discomfort on a daily basis, hooked up to medical machines and tubes giving them just enough support to live through one more day. Doctor and Physician assisted suicide is described as assisted suicide with help from a licensed professional who provides a patient with the information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life. With the intention that the information will be used for this purpose. Patients who are qualified for assisted suicide are usually in the last stages of life resulting in slow, agonizing death along with vomiting, coughing, enduring pain spasms, inefficient control of excretory functions and physiological suffering. Doctors today have enough knowledge and experience to know when a patient 's days are numbered. With the help and guidance of a doctor, patients can end their lives with their dignity, pride, and self-worth intact.
