Just because someone called you a ‘’cracker’’ does not mean you have faced the same great deal of racism and abuse as a POC. Even comparing the stereotypes between white people and other races, makes it even more evident of a white person’s lack of oppression. On the topic of racism, the great amount of white people who appropriate other cultures, and how much society believes that there is no problem being faced is absurd. An instance of this can be proved wildly when you see a white person with dreads, wearing a Bindi, or Native American headdress. There is a massive cluster of even the smallest, subtlest things that whites appropriate that they only give respect to in terms of aesthetic purposes. I am able to deeply observe what is wrong with the appropriation of cultures that have been stripped apart and whitewashed to appease whites, because I too have been personally affected and greatly insulted by this. Being Asian-American in a society where Asians and Asian culture is disgustingly fetishized is the bane of my existence.
