In the past years, there have been shootings or mass murders. It's mainly been caused by white Americans, but once they are put at blame for it; they are defenses with being diagnosed some type of mental issue. If one commits a crime, and harms people, they should go to jail for the time they need. The race or the color of your skin, shouldn't mean you don't go to jail for the bad things you do. White privilege is something that has been shown in the media lately, and it affects a lot of people who come from different cultures. In a Colorado movie theater in 2012, a white male killed 12 people and injured 70 while shooting and setting off tear gas grenades. At first, he had been diagnosed with a mental disease, and not until three years later he was pleaded guilty. “Attorneys for Colorado theater shooter James Holmes began presenting their case Thursday by calling a psychiatrist who said Holmes was so psychotic that he could not tell right from wrong when he killed 12 people during a packed movie premiere.” (Huffington Post) Later on, they said if the jurors did agree, he would be able to stay in a mental hospital. (www.theguardian.com ) Police are also most likely to pull over a skin colored person than a white person. The ones that do have white privilege, obviously do not see it, as said on a Huffington Post article. "WHITE PRIVILEGE: IF YOU CAN'T SEE IT YOU'VE GOT IT", was said by people from the Good Samaritan Church. It is true that not every white American can get this privilege because there has been cases that some get as much as any other skin colored person. It is many with the people who are wealthier than others, but if someone commits a crime, not matter who they are, they should serve the time they deserve. It is not fair that just because you’re white you don’t have to do time like everyone

White privilege is an inherent advantage, that is unearned and unacknowledged, yet practiced by whites regularly. White people typically earn more money and have more assets than other races. Fortunate individuals continue to fail to realize there is still inequality. They usually rise well above the poverty line, and live relatively economically sound lives. This is true for Brock Turner, a white male former swimmer and student at Stanford University.…

When was the last time you heard a news story about a white person who committed a crime, and wasn’t mentally ill? With white privilege comes a certain power. Wielding white privilege in your fist gives you the ability to argue that historically black colleges are racist, to argue that you suffer as much as the next person of color does, to scream and rally “All Lives Matter,” all the while denying you have this sort of power. Many white people do not know of its power, they do not know of its strength. However, they possess and use this strength in ways which they do not even realize. Without the acknowledgement of this power, people of color are left powerless and will continue to be abused by this system of bias.…

Eric, The topic of white privilege is a challenging subject to discuss. White privilege represents the benefits that white individuals receive from society that people of color will not. I agree with your three elements in the knapsack of white privilege not listed by Peggy McIntosh, especially the one about when getting pulled over by a cop you don’t have fear about your life. That is a very imperative especially what has been happening lately in our society with the how the police are treating people of color unlawfully.…

White privilege is a topic that is always existing and has for a period of time, but it is not talked about that often and actions are not taken against it. This issue is difficult to diminish because the majority of people that are in authority are most like to be caucasians who are in that position thanks to the power of white privilege. It has cause many problems and caused many cases of unfair of treatment anywhere from inside a personal household to a community, to the society, and all the way to the institutional level, and can be the source of systematic discriminations as far as to the federal government and to the supreme court.
Unfair treatment in the workplace, in the social justice system may be an effect for life threatening issues. The topic can be seen as controversial and easily dismissed by people because of the lead word “white”, which has the perception of being derogatory and limiting when you first glance at the title. Many people when they are initially introduced to the topic of white privilege they dismiss it because it just points out one race, nobody wants to be held responsible for something they feel they have no control over, some people don’t realize they have more privileges than others, and others just doesn’t read about because of the title. There’s not really a consensus among society based on if it exist or not, it’s up to the individual if they believe it or not. In “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack”, Peggy McIntosh, asserts that certain people have doors open to them based upon nothing they did to earn them and that there are conditions of daily experiences that certain people are granted that seemed small and basic, but only are limited to people of white decent. In addition, McIntosh compares the privilege of white males and female to make the general white privilege argument more digestible to those who are unaware that they benefit from white privilege and those that don’t understand how they benefit from it.…

White people are automatically protected and given the benefit of the doubt when confronted by the police by having white privilege. White privilege works in our world in many ways; it provides white people with many advantages and immunity to challenges people of color face. The protection of whiteness shapes the world we live in and is not easily deconstructed in any system. For example, a person of color, especially a black person, is not guaranteed the same treatment by cops that are given to white people. In Philando Castile’s case, he did everything the officer asked of him.…

White Privilege in America "White privilege" is the idea that white people unintentionally and automatically get certain perks and advantages that people of color do not receive. Many do not believe in such a concept because in America, all people are suppose to be equal, however, it is easy to see that a white person is treated differently than a person of color solely because of the color of their skin. White people living in America receive numerous “perks” on a daily basis. A number of people that get these perks probably do not stop and realize they are getting something that a person with a darker colored skin could not get. For instance, if a black woman went to a clothing store to find nude undergarments, she would most likely have a difficult time finding something that matched her skin tone because most items that are “nude” match a much lighter skin tone.…

The amount of privilege someone has is set by their race, gender, economic class, sexuality, and even citizenship. It is evident that when you open an American history book, you’re going to be taught through the perspective a white historian, and not that of a Native American. Or if I was to go to my local supermarket, that I could easily find staple foods to my cultural diet. White privilege is definitely alive and cultivating in our society, however, people shouldn’t have to feel guilty about it. One of the main issues with white privilege being tossed around everywhere is the fact that people expect others to apologize for being white.…
