“This is so frustrating! I don’t know if I fell anger or sadness! I have gone to our public archives many times so far, just to find out that there is no record of a white woman from Azores bringing a black new born girl with her during the Azorean diaspora to Brazil during the end of 18th century. It is really a shame that black lives at that time were not seem as important at all. Maybe that girl has just died, like so many others. But that conversation with my mother still haunts me, so I must find a way to meet that girl’s descendant. I have had those strange dreams with that very beautiful black woman, maybe it’s she, I don’t know. I have never believed in dreams before, but those ones are really disturbing.
