White collar offenders on the other hand are from higher or better off classes, most of them are rich corporate leaders or powerful political leaders. Even middle class people are likely to commit white collar crimes than conventional crimes. In terms of race, "racial minorities are disproportionately represented among those charge with several major forms of conventional crime"(pg.15). African Americans represent 25 percent of those arrested for conventional crimes. While not likely to be charged with white collar crimes like antitrust or corporate wrongdoing, African Americans and other disadvantaged minorities are shown to commit low level white collar crimes like embezzlement and fraud, while whites are shown to commit middle and high offenses.
